Manisha ABESEKARA

Manisha is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Dept. of CBE at HKUST. She did her bachelor's degree in Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Her research interests include AAV engineering, biomaterials, and immunotherapy. In her free time, she likes to read, cook and travel.

Jessica Octavius YAP

Jessica is currently an MPhil student in CBE at HKUST. She is originally from Indonesia, and she earned her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at HKUST. She is currently working on developing CRISPR-based functional genomic screening platform. In her free time, she likes to do sports and play music.

Won Joon KIM

Won Joon is currently a final-year undergraduate student in Bioengineering at HKUST. Originally from South Korea, he is interested in developing computational methods for multi-omic data analysis to improve the efficacy of gene therapy vectors. Outside of the lab, he loves trying new food from various cuisines, listening to rock music, going for an unplanned walk, and reading books of all kinds.

Felicity is currently a junior undergraduate of Bioengineering at HKUST.

We are looking for motivated graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and research technicians to join us! We aim to build a multidisciplinary group of engineers, molecular biologists, and neuroscientists, in a positive and inclusive laboratory environment, to develop next-generation of gene therapies in the clinics. PhD applications should apply for HKPFS (strongly recommended, due in December), HKUST PhD programs (CBE or other related departments), and send your inquiry to Dr. Zhu in advance.
